Corrimal Cokeworks Master Plan
Corrimal, NSW - Dharawal Country (Wodi Wodi clan)
Transforming an 18-hectare former industrial site, this medium-density master plan resolves complex ecological and stormwater constraints to deliver a vibrant, well-connected residential community near Wollongong.
Collaborating with DKO Architects, e8urban was commissioned to prepare a comprehensive medium-density master plan and Development Control Plan (DCP) for the urban renewal of the historic Corrimal Coke Works site. Situated 5.5 kilometres north of the Wollongong CBD and 63.5 kilometres south of Sydney, the expansive 18-hectare former industrial parcel presents a landmark opportunity to create a diverse, sustainable residential community with integrated neighbourhood retail and public open space.
The site is defined by significant environmental constraints, including complex ecology and intricate stormwater management challenges. e8urban’s design response carefully resolves these physical complexities by embedding sensitive water-sensitive urban design principles and ecological restoration corridors throughout the spatial framework. The master plan balances environmental remediation with the delivery of diverse medium-density housing typologies, ensuring high levels of solar access, public domain integration, and walkability to nearby public transit links.
