Spanning 130 hectares, this master plan for the rezoning of Springside Hill creates a sustainable, community-focused coastal neighborhood that harmonises diverse housing options with Kiama’s natural scenery.

e8urban led the master planning and urban design for the rezoning, working alongside client Traders in Purple and key collaborators Sprout Studio, Hoyne, and JWP. The project establishes a visionary Planning Proposal framework designed to deliver a climate-resilient, community-oriented neighborhood that integrates seamlessly into the surrounding coastal landscape.

The master plan addresses Kiama's evolving housing needs by introducing a balanced product mix—ranging from single-family homes and townhouses to low-rise apartments—to support a diverse community demographic. The design framework emphasises contemporary architectural principles while respecting local character and topography. The spatial layout is structured around an interconnected public domain network, featuring beautifully landscaped parks, continuous walking and cycling trails, and active community spaces designed to foster social cohesion and outdoor living.

Environmental stewardship is embedded throughout the plan, incorporating energy-efficient site design, water-sensitive urban design, and green infrastructure that safeguards ecological corridors across the site. By aligning strategic density with generous public domain and sustainable infrastructure, e8urban’s scheme provides a robust, market-tested blueprint for coastal expansion.
